'Ever After'

In the 1998 movie "Ever After," heroine Danielle De Barbarac (Drew Barrymore) has a wicked stepmother (Anjelica Huston) and stepsisters, but in no way is she in need of rescuing. In this twist of the Cinderella story, Danielle rescues herself from her horrible family and also saves the prince, played by Dougray Scott, from gypsies.
